An
important proof about Romania's 2-millennium existence and
heritage is its rural civilization. The best way to know
the very diverse and yet unitary rural civilization of
Romania is to scour each corner of the country.
Fortunately, there are a few places in Romania which have
concentrated on a narrower area invaluable rural
masterpieces of the whole country.
The
most important of these places is the Village Museum of
Bucharest that is one of the world's most interesting
ethnographical parks in open air. Founded in 1936 this
museum illustrates the perpetual spring of surprising
originality of the Romanian people. The house and house
holding samples in the museum are exhibited according to
the ethnographical areas they are coming from. This huge
tourist attraction for any visitor of Romania is situated
in the Northern part of Bucharest in an area of parks,
lakes and quietness and in the nearby of the famous
Triumph Arch.
Another
important village museum is the Museum of Folk Crafts
situated in the surroundings of Sibiu city, in Southern
Transylvania. The museum, which is positioned in a
marvelous natural environment, contains items proving the
amazing skills of Romanian craftsmen along the centuries.
Some of this craft work has correspondents in today's
machines whereas others could not be matched until modern
times.
Village
museums are close to other important tourist attractions.
